It’s safe to donate to the TV fundraiser
The TV Campaign is Norway’s best-known fundraising campaign. It is a nationwide effort in which everyone is invited to participate—from the Royal Family, the Storting, and the Government, to municipalities and the business community, as well as schools, clubs, organizations, and private citizens. No other fundraising campaign enjoys the same level of trust among the public.
NRK’s Fundraising Council selects which organization will receive the TV fundraiser each year. Competition for the grant is fierce, with strict requirements regarding the application, timeline, and budget. The editorial task of selecting projects is demanding, and a great deal of time and effort goes into finding the right project. In recent years, the TV fundraiser has raised enormous sums. It is therefore especially important that the funds are managed responsibly. As part of ensuring this, one of the requirements set by NRK’s Fundraising Council is that the organization be approved by Charity Monitoring Norway.
Charity Monitoring Norway imposes strict requirements regarding accounting, auditing, and oversight on all of its approved organizations. This helps ensure that funds from the national fundraising campaign are used for their intended purpose. The 2020 TV fundraiser supports WWF’s project to prevent plastic waste from ending up in our oceans. The funds are earmarked and will be used exclusively for this project.
A project like this is extensive. Good intentions alone are not enough. You also need the knowledge and ability to use the funds wisely. There is little doubt that WWF is well-equipped for this task. Let’s all help WWF with one of the most important projects of our time.
