Objection to contact

If you do not wish to receive communications from nonprofit organizations, you can opt out of this in the Brønnøysund Register.

“Marketing companies must update their lists against the Opt-Out Registry at least once a month. It may therefore take up to one month for your opt-out to take effect. If you are contacted in violation of your opt-out, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Authority. The opt-out will not prevent market research or opinion polls, as these are not considered direct marketing. The opt-out also does not apply to communications from businesses with which you have an existing customer relationship—such as banks, insurance companies, book clubs, etc.” (Brreg.no)

The same applies to nonprofit organizations. If you are reluctant to be contacted but choose to make a one-time or recurring donation to a nonprofit organization, this is considered a customer relationship. The association will therefore be able to contact you at a later date. If you do not wish to be contacted by this organization, you can opt out directly with the organization.

In addition to the Brønnøysund Register, there are several other providers of personal data with whom you can also opt out. You can do this either by logging in with BankID or by contacting the provider.
